In the Cordillera Central region of Colombia, 39 farms came together to form the AGPROSEM cooperative in partnership with Traviesa Coffee. Together, they offer training programs to teach farmers better growing practices, water conservation, and sustainable techniques. After working with them for several consecutive seasons, we were able to visit Traviesa this year and share our roasts with their team. The organically-grown Las Planadas is a lightly floral, full bodied, and honey sweet coffee.

Mauricio, who imported this coffee, is one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. When we went to visit him in the Paisa region of Colombia last year, we were touched by his hospitality and dedication to his craft. He’s the kind of person who can’t leave a single drop of coffee un-drunk in his mug—he knows too well how much work went into every sip.

This coffee comes from an association of small farmers called the Association of Farmers and Coffee Producers of Specialty Coffee of Montalvo at Planadas; Mauricio is dedicated to finding small-scale farmers who produce delicious coffees and making sure their coffees get out on the specialty market.
