We believe that your coffee should taste amazing--whether it's caffeinated or not. This coffee is fully washed and grown in the Huehuetenango region in Guatemala. A collaboration of several farms, it was first selected for it's taste before it was sent to the Swiss Water processing plant for decaffeination. Notes of coffee cake and jam get rounded out with a rich juicy finish.
Gabino Mendez was the first in his family to get a high school education, and made sure all his sons did the same. He went on to become an elementary school teacher—teachers used to travel all the way from the city of Huehuetenango to get to the remote region of San Pedro Necta close to the border with Mexico. Gabino runs his farm, Las Aguas Altas, with the help of his brothers and father who each have their own nearby lots. They process their coffee at a central washing station shared with neighboring producers. The whole family speaks Mam, a Mayan indigenous language.
