Focused on sustainable agriculture, the Hambela farm is highly committed to growing delicious organic coffee. To make their coffee even better, they’ve teamed up with the METAD washing station--a facility known for their dedication to community and sustainability. The result of this partnership is a fully sun-dried coffee that packs a hit of berry sweetness, notes of cacao, and a creamy body.

METAD is a family business recognized within the specialty coffee world for using sustainable and eco-friendly cultivation practices coupled with unrivaled attention to detail and quality control. They grow their coffee organically and have a washing station, dry mill, and drying beds on site so that cherries can be processed as soon as they’re picked. Now in its third generation of family operations, METAD was founded by Africa’s first female pilot Muluembet Emiru, and employs a year-round staff that is 70% women. They have the first and only SCAA certified QC/training lab in Africa, and employ environmentally conscious agricultural techniques like apiculture, intercropping, and reuse of coffee wastewater. They offer training programs to farmers in the surrounding region in conjunction with USAID and sponsor 650 schoolchildren each year to make sure they complete their education.
